Suzuki has issued a recall on almost 200,000 vehicles for air bag sensor defects. The recalled models are 2006 through 2011 Grand Vitara SUVs, and 2007 through 2011 SX4 small cars. The sensor mats that control the air bag’s deployment can stop working. If the sensors fail to measure the passenger’s weight to determine whether or not an air bag should deploy, the air bag could deploy when it is not supposed to, which could cause injuries to children or small adults.
Suzuki will notify owners and dealers will replace the faulty mats at no cost to owners.
