Toyota has announced a recall involving 778,000 vehicles under two of its brands for a suspension problem that could cause crashes. The rear suspension arms in the Toyota RAV4 SUV and Lexus HS250h luxury hybrid sedan can rust and separate from the vehicle if the rear suspension nuts are not properly tightened after a wheel alignment.
To this date, Toyota has reported a total of nine crashes and three injuries from thesuspension problem. The RAV4s from model years 2006 through 2011 and the HS250h from model year 2010 are affected. The car company is currently developing a plan to solve the problem, and will notify owners of these vehicles by mail when there is a solution. They will then be able to take their vehicle to their local Toyota and/or Lexus dealer for free repairs. Consumers are advised to immediately contact their closest dealership if they hear a sound coming from the rear of the vehicle that is atypical.
