Volvo has issued a recall on the 2010-2011 XC90 SUV crossover due to a potential problem with the power steering fluid. The XC90 models assembled January 29 through August 16, 2010 may leak power steering fluid from the oil pipe connection at the steering gear valve housing. This could potentially cause a sudden loss of power steering, increasing the possibility of an accident.
Owners of the affected XC90 vehicles are advised to contact the nearest Volvo dealership, as Volvo will replace the oil pipes on the power steering rack of the XC90 at no charge to the owner. Volvo reports that approximately 350 vehicles will be affected by this recall.
Owners that are not sure if their vehicle falls within the prescribed time period may contact Volvo directly at 1-800-458-1552.
