A horrific crash in the Seminole County resulted in the death of a teen while also causing injuries to two other persons. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 28. It happened late at night and was reported to the authorities at around 10:30 p.m.
According to the details made available by the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened on the Country Club Road. The vehicle involved in the crash was traveling close to the Continental Boulevard near Lake Mary when the driver lost control.
The vehicle was identified as a 2018 BMW. It was traveling northbound on the road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve properly. This caused the BMW to leave the roadway and collided with a tree at a high speed. The sheer impact of the collision caused the vehicle to be split in half, causing severe injuries to its occupants.
FHP confirmed that the BMW had three occupants in it at the time of the crash. These included the driver who was identified as a 21-year-old man from Sanford. Passengers included a 19-year-old Sanford man and a 16-year old girl.
The 19-year-old man sustained critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver incurred critical injuries as well. Once the first responders arrived, he was rushed to the Central Regional Florida Hospital where he remains under treatment.
The 16-year-old girl received relatively minor injuries. She was also taken to the hospital for treatment. FHP also confirmed that all the three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
FHP continues to investigate the incident. Preliminary investigations show that the driver was driving at a speed that was too high. If this turns out to be true, charges may be brought against the driver for causing the crash. If you’re involved in a wreck, contact our Florida car accident attorneys today.
