I’m consistently asked, what is underinsured motorist coverage? My name is David Anderson, and I’m a personal injury attorney here in Central Florida, and I’d like to answer that question for you.

Underinsured motorist coverage, also known as uninsured motorist coverage, or UM coverage for short, steps in and pays for any injuries, medical bills, or lost wages that exceed the coverage of the person who caused the motor vehicle crash. The unfortunate reality is that drivers on the road don’t carry enough insurance and sometimes don’t have any car insurance at all.

UM coverage is necessary to protect you and your family in case you are injured as a result of someone else’s carelessness.
