Woman Dies in Truck Accident on I-275

A collision between a car and a pickup truck on the I-275 resulted in the death of one woman over the weekend. The fatal truck accident on I-275 occurred on the morning of Sunday, November 29. Authorities didn’t identify the victim.

According to the details shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place along the southbound ramp leading from the Dale Mabry Highway to the I-275. At about 6 a.m. in the morning, the victim was driving a car along the northbound lanes.

As she drew close to the Dale Mabry Highway ramp, she drove into the southbound lanes and started driving wrong-way. This brought her into the path of the oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes.

It was then that the car she was driving collided with a southbound pickup truck. The truck was transporting construction equipment at the time. The sheer impact of the collision caused the car to spin and then veer towards the shoulder of the road. It then collided with the guardrail before coming to a stop.

The sheer impact of the collision caused serious damage to the car. The woman behind the wheel sustained critical injuries. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the accident, she was pronounced dead on the scene. As per FHP, she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The truck involved in the incident had three occupants in it at the time. These included the driver and two passengers. All three were wearing a seatbelt and remained safe in the incident with only minor injuries to report.

Following the truck accident on I-275, the debris of the equipment that the truck was carrying lay strewn on the road. Authorities shut down all the southbound lanes of the highway at Howard Avenue in Tampa. The lanes remained closed for several hours as the authorities conducted on-site investigations and cleanup.
